David Hatton reads a letter, "Dear Ford, I live in rural central Texas. I cannot remember the events of the accident that nearly killed me..."

He trails off, eyes growing red. "This one's actually emotional for me," he gives a pained laugh.

Hatton and his team at Ford's Global Emergency Services get letters regularly from Ford drivers whose lives were saved by SYNC 911 Assist. It was the first emergency system that could place a call directly to 911, rather than going through a call center first.

"Every minute counts in that situation," says Hatton.

The winter months can be wonderful, or they can be brutal--it's largely a matter of perspective. Then again, having the ability to slip into a heated car after a long day on the slopes or at the end of your workday can certainly make a big difference in how you approach the chilly season.
