While the release of this iconic truck is still a little ways away, we're going to give you some important updates and details to keep you excited.
In this 2018 Ford F-150 review, we're going to cover what we know about this upcoming release. We'll go over the engine power and options, and expected abilities and capacities. We hope that this 2018 Ford F-150 review keeps you anticipated for the day that you come in for a test drive.
2018 Ford F-150 Engine Power & Options
Drivers should be excited because the 2018 Ford F-150 is coming standard with a new engine. The new 3.3L V6 engine is set to deliver 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, providing more push than the 282 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque that the outgoing 3.5L V6 engine was capable of. Of course, the power doesn't stop there because there's four more engine options to talk about.
The next level up is the 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine, which achieves the same 325 horsepower of last year's model, but boosts the torque up to 400 lb-ft. The 5.0L V8 engine also got updated to push it from 385 horsepower and 387 lb-ft of torque to 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. Of course, there's no ignoring the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine, which hasn't received an update since it doesn't need one. The high-output 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine still impresses with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque.
Expected Abilities & Capacities
The Ford F-150 is known as a tough and formidable pickup truck, thanks to its powerful engines that give this truck extraordinary abilities when it comes to towing and carrying hefty payload. While there haven't been any official towing or payload specs officially released, we can only speculate that due to the updates to the engines, this truck's abilities will surpass that of the 2017 model.
When it comes to towing, the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine is the most impressive option. It allowed last year's model to achieve a 12,000-pound towing capacity, which is remarkable for a standard, non-heavy duty pickup truck. However, we're eager to see what the new 3.3L V6 engine can do. It shouldn't surpass the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine, but we do expect it to outperform the 7,600-pound towing capacity that the standard 3.5L V6 engine was capable of.
