NHTSA Safety Ratings

The NHTSA, or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, also gave high marks to the new Escape, resulting in an overall 5-Star Safety Rating. This included five stars for front driver and front passenger side ratings. In terms of side safety, it scored five stars for side barrier and side pole ratings, both front and back seat. It received four out of five stars for the rollover resistance test, which measures the risk of suffering a rollover collision when you lose control due to inclement weather or other conditions.
