The new Ford F-250 is
one of the best ways to get around the Doylestown, Philadelphia, and
Warminster areas. With its incredible towing capacity and surprisingly
luxurious interior, it's no wonder so many drivers are opting for this
powerful pickup. If you want to keep enjoying everything it has to
offer, you'll need regular maintenance.
Routine maintenance for your truck is easier than you might think, and it's always better than trying to fix a major issue with a costly repair later. To make sure you're keeping your truck on track, Fred Beans Ford of Doylestown has made this handy Ford F-250 maintenance schedule for you.
5,000-Mile Service
Your first service should occur around six months in, or after 5,000 miles, depending on which comes first. For this service, the most important thing you need to do is get your oil and oil filter changed. Oil is the lifeblood of your truck, so you need to make sure it's kept in optimal condition. Old oil can lead to serious engine damage. Additionally, you'll want to have a general inspection done to ensure there aren't any problems anywhere else.
10,000-Mile Service
For
this service, you'll need to repeat everything in the 5,000-mile
service. Keep that kind of repetition in mind throughout this entire
schedule. Every service needs to be completed at regular intervals. If
your current mileage is a multiple of a past service, repeat that past
service. For your second trip to the service center, you need to get
your tires rotated. Make sure to have your brake pads looked at as well.
If you've been taking advantage of the F-250's towing and payload
capacity, they could be significantly worn.
20,000-Mile Service
At this point, you'll probably have to replace your brake pads if you haven't already. It's usually a good idea to get your cabin air filter replaced just to make sure you're breathing clean air when you drive. Be sure to have all your other systems checked along with your tires. It's not uncommon for your tires to have to be replaced after two years.
40,000-Mile Service
When you hit the 40,000-mile mark, you may need more replacements. Your drive belts will probably have worn down quite a bit at this point, so don't be surprised if they need replacing. Additionally, you may have to get your brake rotors changed along with your brake pads.
75,000 Miles
After
75,000 miles, you'll start to see more extensive repairs needed. Your
shock absorbers have taken a lot of pressure over the years, and will
probably need replacing. Keep an eye out for fluid leaks as well. It may
be a good idea to go ahead and get your engine coolant hose replaced
entirely. If it's not leaking already, it might in the near future.
100,000 Miles
Congratulations on making it to 100,000 miles! Your truck has kept going for you, so don't give up on it now. At this service, you'll need to get an engine mount replacement, if you haven't already. This service can be costly, so make sure you're prepared going in. You can probably hold off a bit on it if your mechanic says it's okay, but make sure you get the smaller necessary repairs done at least.
