Oil is Dark Brown or Black

Brand-new motor oil is transparent and gold in color. Then, as it works through your engine and picks up debris, it becomes opaquer, and can appear to be black or a dark brown color. This is the first warning sign that you need an oil change since old engine oil is not as effective at keeping the engine clean and running smoothly.

Engine Running Louder Than Usual

When your engine doesn't have enough lubrication, it may sound louder than normal. Or, you might hear strange noises. This is caused by the moving parts inside your engine rubbing together.
