David Hatton reads a letter, "Dear Ford, I live in rural central Texas. I cannot remember the events of the accident that nearly killed me..."
He trails off, eyes growing red. "This one's actually emotional for me," he gives a pained laugh.
Hatton and his team at Ford's Global Emergency Services get letters regularly from Ford drivers whose lives were saved by SYNC 911 Assist. It was the first emergency system that could place a call directly to 911, rather than going through a call center first.
"Every minute counts in that situation," says Hatton.
Even if your Bluetooth is turned off, or if Do Not Disturb mode is activated, SYNC can override them. If your phone is broken, SYNC can make the call using another paired phone in the car. The vehicle can send your GPS location, impact speed, and type of accident to rescue services so that help can find you faster, wherever you are.
