You're racing along in your new sports car, going a little faster than you should be. You realize too late there's a good reason for the speed limit on this road -- it's full of potholes.
Your front wheel hits the hole, and there's a loud bang that shakes the whole frame. You're able to keep driving, but you know, deep down inside, something bad happened. Sure enough, when you take it in your service, your car's wheels are misaligned, and the tire has a slow leak.
It could have been worse.
Between tire damage, bent wheel rims, engine damage, and more, some surveys estimate drivers will spend over $500 each year in car repairs because of potholes.
There's a light at the end of this crater-pocked tunnel! The 325-horsepower, all-wheel-drive Ford Fusion model, the Fusion Sport, will come equipped with pothole-avoidance technology.
Similar to the way forward collision warning technology works, the pothole-avoidance system will scan the road using advanced sensors. When it finds a pothole, it sends a signal to the shock absorbers to hold the wheel up and over the pit.
