You probably know that your engine oil gets dirty over time. All of the gunk and dirt builds up as a result of your engine running constantly. Your oil is there to reduce the friction between the pistons and to ensure that your engine stays cool.

When your oil is changed, the dirty oil in the engine is replaced with clean engine oil. This forces all of the deposits out of your engine with the dirty oil. At the same time, the car's oil filter is also replaced to ensure that the engine is able to continually clean itself while running. This is also a great time to check the air filter and other fluids such as antifreeze and windshield washer fluid.

Because the dirty oil is forced out, your engine is able to run faster and more efficiently. Your engine will also extend it's life as the deposits won't get stuck behind over time.
